We want to talk about love. Simultaneously occurring in two venues during the week of Valentine’s Day, the exhibitions For Lovers and Fighters and Sweet and Matchless will examine various expressions of love, attempting to expand and complicate its common definition. For Lovers and Fighters considers the role love plays in uniting and transforming communities and the relationship between love and politics. Sweet and Matchless will look at love on a more intimate, personal level. These exhibitions will approach the subject of love with rigor and criticality, while simultaneously creating a space to consider love as a relevant topic of art-making and cultural production.
